Last week, the 50-year-old announced her departure from the ITV daytime series after five years of contributing to the daily discussion, explaining that she feels she has “nothing left to share”.
Saira has now told New! magazine: “I actually think there are other women on that show who have had their time and they need to renew and refresh.
“I don’t mean anyone in particular – to keep that show fresh and relevant you have to look around and you know when your time is up.”
Of the current Loose Women cast, Nadia Sawalha, Jane Moore, Kaye Adams and Ruth Langsford are the only stars who were part of the show’s first episodes in 1999, with Coleen Nolan and Carol McGiffin making their debuts the following year.
During her original exit statement, the former Apprentice and Dancing on Ice contestant explained: “I’ve decided to give up my seat to another woman who will benefit from the platform as I did. It was a difficult decision, but when you feel there is nothing left to share on a show that is all about sharing, it’s time to bow out.
“I think I’ve shown everyone I’m an opinionated, strong woman, but now I want to focus on pursuing other media projects, running my skincare business, Saira Skin, and developing my love for wellness.”
Loose Women airs weekdays on ITV.
